The Unbeatables

It’s been a while since the Black and Gold completely avoided the taste of defeat on a weekend of full fixtures, but our good form returned along with the cold weather which bodes well for the long winter months.

The 1’s were held to a creditable 1-1 draw at home to Civil Service thanks to the removal of a puddle that cost them last time out against Alleyne where they went down 1-0. Last season they had amassed a single point by the end of September making the five points from four games this time around even more impressive. This weekend they start their assault on the AFA cup beginning against Globetrotters Worldwide Rangers AFC Global FC.

The 2’s maintained their low scoring tight games but have turned two opening losses into two wins. A single Joe Bennis rocket separated the OG’s from Old Owens to put the first 3 points of the season on the board. More recently they came from behind against HSBC to move into the second round of the AFA cup. Two inspired substitutions in the form of Jamie Sermidi firing in from 35 yards and Captain Ben Owen grabbing the second to finish of a 2-1 turnaround. Credit to Jamie Harney for a stellar performance in net, rumours that Matt Rosson will have to fight for his place back in the side.

The 3’s, after a tough 3-2 loss the weekend before held top of the table Norsemen to a two all draw. Jermaine Bossman twisted past the oppositions full back before slotting in, this was added to by Chris ‘last shoulder’ O’Callaghan who is still thriving in his new role upfront. They face a beatable Parkonians side this weekend as they attempt to get a real foothold in the league. Rak and Ollie are still injury free. Harvey did not score.
