Olè Hayley - Win, Lose, Draw, Still OG's

The football season returned with a dose of reality and a huge dollop of hope for the remainder of the OG’s. A quiet pre-season has rumbled along with player recruitment for each squad the best it has been in recent years and all three squads headed into the weekend with healthy numbers. Well, numbers, some not so healthy after evidentially not so quiet pre-seasons.

The Three’s built form throughout their preseason campaign and headed into their match against the always competitive outfit of Winchmore Hill with hopes of putting last season’s dismal relegation campaign behind them.

A few new faces added yet more vigour to this energetic side and they stormed to a 4-1 victory. The strike force did what they are there to do and the potent trio of Rakim Alleyne, Ollie Hayley and Chris O’Callaghan all got on the score sheet. Rakim and Ollie turning a new leaf and not getting injured in the process. Chris newly promoted down a team after failing to hit the mark for several seasons may have finally found his level.

The Two’s arrived at Chase Lodge with an air of expectancy and confidence ahead of the day’s proceedings. These were swiftly quashed within a lack lustre first half hour in which Parkonians snatched a two goal lead without breaking a sweat. The boys sort of rallied and pulled one back through a Stevie Mac 40 yard cross come shot that sailed into the top corner. His celebratory slow jog back to the on loan George Lewis for a kiss and a cuddle equalling the distance covered for the rest of the half.

The Second half showed glimpses of promise with an increase in effort from all, but the drab affair ended sourly when Jay Sermidi was sent walking after politely questioning some unfathomable refereeing decisions. The match lumbered to it’s conclusion a 2-1 loss for the black and gold. Man of the match was a tough decision between two Joe’s, Bennis and Alkins, one for being the only player making a difference on the pitch and the latter for some impeccably sliced oranges.

The One’s were dealt a blockbuster opener away to Nottsborough, having not taken a point off them since November 2014, new first team captain Ishmael Osamor was truly thrown in at the deep end. However a player scored and someone probably assisted the goal and the same assumedly happened at the other end and the spoils were shared, 1-1. A excellent result showing great promise for the season ahead.
