It appears the OG’s home ground in Enfield is the only grass in Greater London capable of absorbing rainfall as the 1’s and 3’s were called off due to waterlogged pitches. This left only one team in action, and with the 2’s and 3’s not playing next weekend we seem to be winding down for the winter break a little early.
The two’s last hopes of a Cup run rested on the Middlesex and Essex Intermediate Trophy, Old Aloysians stood in their way and they brought a strong Colombian outfit to face us. The competition was put to bed in the first half, the OG’s taking a deserved 3-0 lead in at the break after bullying the opposition with a high press and superior aerial threat. New recruit Carlo added a touch of quality in midfield and a goal to add to a Matt Brown brace. We sat back a little too much in the second half and conceded a scrappy goal after a host of substitutions affected our tempo. Adam fired in from 85 yards to keep Aloysians at a safe distance and despite a late consolation to make the score line respectable it was a comfortable afternoon made easy by a lightening first 30 minutes. A tastey last 16 tie lies in wait against local rivals Alexandra Park.
